When traveling to a foreign country where the voltage is 220, 230, or 240 volts you may find it more convenient to pack a dual voltage appliance instead of having to bring a voltage converter or transformer to step down their voltage to the 110 volts needed for your appliances. With a dual voltage appliance you would just need the appropriate ungrounded plug adapters like those contained in the AK-UNGR kit or as shown for each country in our World Electric Guide. These dual voltage appliances are self-sensing and don't require changing a switch setting. You just put the appropriate plug adapter on the US plug on the appliance and plug it into the wall outlet. You can also still use the appliances in North America at 110 volts without the plug adapter. See the complete selection of dual voltage appliances HERE
