Because the voltage in most foreign countries is 220 volts, 230 volts, or 240 volts, you will need to step down those high voltages to our 110 volts in order to use any 110 volt appliance. There are compact, inexpensive step down voltage converters available but they have limitations on their use. If these lightweight, compact voltage converters don't suit your application, you may need a transformer. Transformers don't have any limitations on their use like the travel type voltage converters. See these voltage converters for more specific info. Also, click here for the 5 Steps To Electrical Needs if you need help deciding what you need.
