GROUNDED OR UNGROUNDED APPLIANCES:
Appliances that are considered to be grounded have three pin plugs while ungrounded appliances have just two pin plugs. If an appliance is grounded, you definitely need a grounded plug adapter while an ungrounded appliance can use either a grounded or ungrounded plug adapter. Solid state voltage converters will only accept ungrounded plugs while a transformer (except the TA-50A) will accept either grounded or ungrounded plugs.
